Wer ist Manolo Blahnik?

The Man

Manolo Blahnik was born in 1942 in the Canary Islands to a Spanish mother and a Czech father. From an early age, he developed a passion for art, form and shoes.

Originally, he studied art and set design in Paris. In 1969, a meeting with Diana Vreeland led him into the world of footwear design. Recognising his talent, she encouraged him to devote himself entirely to creating shoes.

Blahnik honed his shoemaking skills in Italian workshops, where he developed his distinctive signature. To this day, he draws his own designs and remains closely involved in the creative process.

Behind every Manolo Blahnik shoe lies a distinctive blend of creativity, precision and traditional craftsmanship.

Each design begins as a hand-drawn sketch by Manolo Blahnik before being brought to life by skilled artisans in Italian workshops. Many details are meticulously crafted by hand – from shaping the silhouette to the final finish.

The result is a refined expression of artistic vision, meticulous craftsmanship and elegance.

From Bianca Jagger’s legendary appearance at Studio 54 to Carrie Bradshaw’s unmistakable Manolo obsession in Sex and the City, the shoes have long been part of iconic fashion moments.
